Seniors, it is your year; let us make it look like you!
Phoenix Graduation Photographers
Graduating from high school or college is a huge milestone. You've spent years working toward this moment, and your graduation photos should capture more than just the fact that you graduated.
They should capture who you are right now.
As a Phoenix graduation photographer, my goal is to create senior and graduation portraits that feel authentic to the person I'm photographing—not a generic collection of poses that could belong to anyone.
Maybe that means wearing your cap and gown on your college campus. Maybe it means taking artistic portraits in the water at the Salt River. Maybe it's exploring Old Town Scottsdale, finding interesting architecture and light, or creating something inspired by a favorite aesthetic.
There isn't one right way to take graduation photos.
Your graduation photos should look like you.

Graduation Photos That Show Who You Are
Before your photography session, we'll have a quick conversation about you, your ideas, and what you want your photos to feel like. What makes you feel like yourself? What makes you happy? Do you have a favorite place? A hobby? A particular style or aesthetic? Do you want classic graduation portraits, something editorial and artistic, or a combination of both?
Those conversations help me create a session that is personalized to you. I photograph both high school seniors and college graduates throughout Phoenix and the surrounding Valley, including Tempe, Scottsdale, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, and beyond.
And if you have a completely different idea for your graduation photos, I'm always interested in hearing it.

Arizona State University Graduation Photos
Two recent college graduates chose Arizona State University’s Main Campus in Tempe for their graduation photos.
ASU's historic Main Campus provides a lot of variety for portraits, with mature landscaping, older architecture, walkways, and recognizable campus locations.
For college graduates, photographing on campus can be a great way to document the place where you spent such an important part of your life.
Your graduation photos don't have to happen in a studio. Your campus is part of your story.
Queer Graduation Photos in Glendale
Graduation photography should be for everyone. One of my favorite sessions was with Triss, an ASU graduate, who wanted portraits that reflected who she is.
We photographed at Manistee Ranch and the Glendale Public Library, which are located next to each other in Glendale. The combination gave us several different environments and opportunities to create a variety of portraits.
For me, one of the most rewarding parts of being a photographer is helping someone see themselves in their photographs in a way that feels genuine.
"I feel like I’m really looking at myself in the photos"
“I love the photos, they’re absolutely beautiful. They make me feel so happy about myself, and I feel like I’m really looking at myself in the photos, something I rarely feel in photos.”

Artsy Senior Photos at the Salt River
Not every senior wants traditional graduation photos.
For this high school senior session, we headed to Water Usery near Mesa and took the photos right in the water.
The setting gave us an opportunity to create something much more editorial and artistic than a typical senior portrait session. We played with the light, posing, water, and environment to create portraits that felt more like an editorial photoshoot.
If you have a creative idea for your senior pictures, you don't have to limit yourself to the traditional cap-and-gown portrait.
Your senior photos can be fashionable, artistic, dramatic, playful, outdoorsy, weird, colorful, or whatever feels like you.
High School Senior Photos With a 2010s Tumblr-Inspired Style
Not every photoshoot has to look like a traditional senior portrait session. One of my favorite sessions took place near San Antonio, Texas, with a style heavily inspired by the 2010s Tumblr aesthetic.
The goal was to create something with a more nostalgic, alternative, and slightly hipster feel rather than the typical polished senior photography style.
I love sessions like this because they show how much personality can go into a senior photoshoot.
If you have a specific aesthetic you've been saving on Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram, or somewhere else, bring it with you.
We can use those ideas as inspiration and create something that feels personal rather than simply copying a standard senior photography formula.
Senior Photos in Old Town Scottsdale
Another high school senior chose Old Town Scottsdale for their graduation photos.
We explored several locations around the courtyard and surrounding area, using the architecture and different backgrounds to create a variety of portraits.
Old Town Scottsdale is a great option if you want senior pictures with more of an urban, modern, or editorial feel rather than a traditional outdoor portrait session.
It also gives us plenty of opportunities to move around and create different looks during one photoshoot.
Your Graduation Photos Don't Have to Look Like Everyone Else's
There are plenty of beautiful traditional graduation photos. But if that's not your style, you don't have to do that.
Maybe you're graduating from ASU and want photos around the campus that became part of your life.
Maybe you want to take your senior pictures in the Salt River.
Maybe you want an editorial photoshoot in Scottsdale.
Maybe you have a very specific aesthetic you've been dreaming about.
Or maybe you have absolutely no idea what you want.
That's okay, too.
You don't need to know how to pose, and you don't need to show up with a fully developed concept.
If you're nervous in front of the camera, that's completely normal. Part of my job is to guide you through the session, help you with posing, and make the experience comfortable and fun.
My goal is for you to walk away with photographs that don't just say “I graduated.”
I want them to say “This is me.”
