Snaptober Day 15. Prompt: Horror
These photographs were taken inside an abandoned mental hospital in Lexington, Massachusetts. With its eerie atmosphere and forgotten spaces, it felt like stepping straight into a horror movie.
And getting inside? That was an adventure of its own. We crawled through a hole in the wall to enter the building. You can see the entrance in the fifth photo!
Would you make the journey in?
Urban Exploration and Dark Photography
Outside of portrait photography, I love urban exploring. I've built up a pretty good collection of photographs from abandoned places, and I'm fascinated by the atmosphere and stories these locations seem to hold.
There's something compelling about photographing a place that has been left behind. Peeling paint, empty rooms, and the way light falls through forgotten spaces can create images that feel eerie without needing anything supernatural to happen.
I love how much atmosphere a location can bring to a photograph. Sometimes, the setting tells its own story before you even pick up the camera.
These images were a perfect fit for Snaptober's Horror prompt, and a reminder that inspiration can come from all kinds of places, even somewhere you'd never expect to visit on an ordinary day.
