Snaptober Day 20. Prompt: Fairytale.
What says fairytale more than a fairy?
For today's Snaptober prompt, I wanted to create something magical, and I knew I wanted to do a fairy photoshoot. While scrolling through TikTok, I came across Petal the Fairy (@petalthefairy), and I thought she would be perfect for the idea I had in mind. So I reached out to her to see if she would be interested in doing a photoshoot together!
We met up at the Desert Botanical Garden in Phoenix, Arizona, and created this dreamy little fairy photoshoot in under 30 minutes. Sometimes, the simplest ideas turn into the most wonderful experiences.
These photographs have such a warm, dreamy feeling to them. With Petal dressed as a pink fairy and surrounded by blooming wildflowers, it felt like we had found a little piece of a fairytale tucked away in the desert.
Finding a Little Fairytale in the Arizona Desert
One of my favorite things about photography is finding those little pockets of magic in places you might not expect.
When you think of fairies, you might imagine lush green forests, flower-filled meadows, and gardens straight out of a storybook. But here in Phoenix, Arizona, we live in the desert! Finding a setting filled with blooming wildflowers that makes you feel like you've stepped into a fairytale isn't always easy.
Luckily, the wildflowers were in bloom at the Desert Botanical Garden, creating the perfect backdrop for this session.
I loved how the flowers surrounded Petal and helped create the feeling that she was a fairy wandering through a garden or field of blooms. The warm tones and dreamy atmosphere of the photographs made the whole scene feel soft and whimsical.
It didn't take an elaborate set or a complicated plan to bring this idea to life. We simply had a fairy, a beautiful setting, and an opportunity to create something magical together.
That's one of the things I love most about creative portrait photography. Sometimes, a simple concept and the right location are all you need to make something special.
